We’re currently looking for a DevOps Engineer that will take a key role on our location-neutral team. You will have a high impact on both our cloud platform and the DevOps team that automates, deploys, maintains, scales, and enhances it. You will have the opportunity to help solve many of the most important and impactful technical challenges faced by our engineering team as we scale our existing products and introduce new ones. We move millions of dollars a day on behalf of our small business customers, necessitating extremely high levels of accuracy, dependability, and resiliency across our interconnected systems.  


You will be able to work across all the teams within engineering and many parts of our application stack to drive the highest priority and highest stakes technical challenges to excellent outcomes and performance. You will be a key voice in defining our overall technical architecture and in working with others on the engineering team to solve technical challenges and improve the scalability and effectiveness of our cloud infrastructure. In this role, we also value strong communication, mentorship, and leadership skills.


The position is location-neutral remote, with opportunities to get together as a company and team throughout the year.


The right candidate for this role has:  



  • A strong desire to solve complex problems with high-quality solutions. They know how to design and implement solutions that address the problem while continuing to drive the systems forward

  • A background in cloud engineering. They are comfortable working with AWS infrastructure and interconnected systems. They can understand how these systems work and how to troubleshoot and improve them

  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to break down issues and explain them to others. They can communicate effectively with people outside of engineering and at all levels of experience

  • A willingness to learn new technologies and evaluate solutions to support an organization experiencing significant growth


What You’ll Do



  • Focus on the development and maintenance of CardFlight Inc.’s critical security and software development infrastructure, including implementing pipelines to enable software developers to deploy applications to staging and production environments

  • Design, create, support, and troubleshoot production infrastructure in Amazon AWS, identifying and ‘fixing’ infrastructure bugs and bottleneck issues

  • Collaborate with other engineering teams and work to ensure compliance with the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standards, by performing key maintenance duties such as reviewing and resolving systems alerts and ‘patching’ infrastructure

  • Develop and maintain critical software production infrastructure throughout the software development lifecycle, deploying applications to remedy bugs, errors and bottlenecks 

  • Standardize system setups across staging and production environments. Develop software scripts and setup tools to automate and accelerate software release processes

  • Build AWS Lambda functions in typescript to create new dashboards and alarms for monitoring

  • Automate real time monitoring of cloud infrastructure and software services to track health and performance of running services

  • Write code in multiple programming languages to ensure credit card transactions are processed securely and reliably

  • Maintain software code repositories and overall user-access controls

  • Collaborate with CardFlight Inc.’s engineering teams to identify and remedy infrastructure bugs or bottleneck issues


What You’ll Bring to the Table 



  • Master’s degree, or equivalent, in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field plus two (2) years of DevOps, software engineering, or related experience

  • Designing and developing scalable architectures on AWS

  • Developing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to manage infrastructure and deploy services and software tools; troubleshooting systems, configuring servers, and load balancing to ensure availability of production services

  • Setting up Lambda API gateways and MySQL tables for distributed applications

  • Developing AWS virtual private clouds and TCP/IP networks

  • Automating the infrastructure configurations; developing and maintaining software build environments; architecting complete CI/CD solutions

  • Managing software delivery pipelines
