Position Summary:


 


Our ideal candidate for this role is experienced in all aspects of the SDLC with a proven track record in creating operational efficiencies in the software development process.  This role will promote and mature our DevOps strategy, review the quality of our software design and testing practices, drive automation and operational changes managing our cloud infrastructure, reduce complexity and introduce new efficiencies and best practices within our team.  This role will work closely with our DevOps architect and implementation team in selecting the correct technologies and instilling true DevOps engineering approaches applied to our solutions development to meet the company demands for high quality rapidly delivered applications.


 


Responsibilities:


 



  • Review existing systems and processes to re-define, establish new or execute development practices and policies, eliminate unnecessary or redundant work, and automate wherever warranted and possible

  • Assist in evaluating, selecting, and implementing technical frameworks, platforms, and design patterns in the areas of configuration management, automated build, software deployment, and infrastructure / application monitoring

  • Demonstrate technical leadership in DevOps concepts, supporting things like infrastructure as a code, evolving CI / CD, green / blue, establishing automation pipelines and monitoring tools and processes

  • Execute initiatives to reduce failure, improve troubleshooting, expand monitoring capabilities, and manage technical operations across the entire infrastructure stack

  • Conduct proof-of-concept tests to present new and improved solutions, solve complex integration issues, improve resiliency and response

  • Establish KPIs, metrics collection and analysis (time, cost, quality) designed to show ROI or gate internal process improvement

  • Work with 3rd party application vendors as necessary in support of our applications and services



Qualifications:



  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Computer Science, Mathematics, MIS or any related courses preferred

  • DevOps certifications or related training preferred

  • Certifications and related experience on MS Azure, AWS or RedHat a plus


 


Experience:


 



  • 4+ years relevant experience in the IT industry preferred

  • 4-6 years’ experience as a senior technical leader or in an architect capacity

  • 3+ years of experience solutions engineering, DevOps engineering or architect role preferred

  • Strong knowledge of all DevOps related concepts and best practices (e.g., CI/CD, branching, automation, deployment, etc.), related tools and applications (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Chef, Puppet, Salt, Ansible, Git, SQL / NoSQL, etc.), preferred

  • Experience with full scale DevOps transformations, preferred

  • Experience working in an agile / scrum environment and with cross functional team members

  • Strong technical foundation including OS, virtualization, cloud computing, infrastructure automation, build tools, source code management tools, integration tools, security, containerization, scripting, web and application servers

  • Applied experience which includes:


    • Automating build and deployment and application pipelines

    • Infrastructure as code

    • Python, Bash and PowerShell scripting

    • Strong Linux (ubuntu/RHEL)

    • Strong cloud experience preferably with Azure

    • Knowledge of cryptographic hashes

    • Quality and testing mindset

    • Mobile app experience


  • Highly effective cross-functional skills working across our engineering and operational teams to ensure our systems and processes are secure, scalable, and reliable

  • Strong technical leadership, communication, and presentation skills

  •  May require local travel

  •  May require other occasional travel for business needs


 


Working Arrangements:



  • Work is performed in a standard office environment with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards

  • May require after hours on call support
