As a Cloud Engineer you will work within our Cloud Engineering team. The team is part of the platform group and is responsible for delivering the core services in a sustainable, secure and reliable fashion. We are a highly collaborative team that supports our internal teams. We provide standards, tooling and infrastructure that encourages self-sufficiency.  We work with the platform group and work closely with the application platform and core services team to set standards and deliver tools and capabilities for development teams to use. 

The day to day:
  • Work on initiatives to enhance the reliability of the Linktree platform
  • Design, build and run resilient systems
  • Build new infrastructure
  • Enhance the developer experience and workflow
  • Work with AWS CDK and Typescript
  • Be a team player and use your strong communication skills to empower the Software Engineers for best practice within site reliability
  • Guide and mentor other people on the team and help them grow their skills and knowledge
  • Be comfortable with being on-call and drive a culture of continuous improvement from the Post Incident Review process
  • Facilitate agreement of acceptable system performance and codifying it in an SLO

  • Requirements:
  • Fluency in at least one modern programming language, we use Typescript so it’s important your keen to work with it
  • An ability to wrangle with infrastructure tooling, and get why infrastructure-as-code is mandatory
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to build and maintain healthy cross-team relationships. With remote team members across different time zones, we rely on async communication in addition to the live catch-ups/pairing sessions
  • Learn fast. You might not be an expert in everything but you are comfortable diving in and learning things, even if they are new to you
  • Experience in Site Reliability Engineering
  • Experience operating high-scale, high-availability, fault-tolerant, distributed software in production
  • Experience working with Containerisation tools (Docker, ECS etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure management in public cloud offerings (AWS components like EC2, ECS, CloudFormation, RDS, S3, DynamoDB, CDK)
  • Experience working with modern CI/CD tools (Github Actions, Buildkite, Travis CI etc.)
  • Experience working with modern CDNs (Fastly, Cloudflare etc etc.)
  • Experience working with one or more modern observability platforms (e.g., Datadog, NewRelic or something similar)
  • Experience building monitoring into your code, tweaking dashboards, defining alerts, writing runbooks.
  • Comfortable in being on-call and driving a culture of continuous improvement

    We currently have offices in Melbourne, Sydney and LA is coming next, but our team is spread across Australia, United States, and New Zealand. Growing from 20 people in early 2020, to 50 in 2021 and over 200 in 2022, Linktree is still growing!

    Being globally distributed doesn't mean working to one timezone and we offer autonomy and flexibility in how you structure your days and weeks. There will be the need for some collaboration outside of a "normal" 9-5 being a global company, but we aim to work asynchronously where possible.
