POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a Cloud Engineer with experience in Google cloud-native products, including Google Kubernetes Engine, Composer, and especially BigQuery.  The Cloud Engineer will work with internal customers on application design, iteration, and implementation and provide architecture guidance, best practices, application migration, implementation, troubleshooting, monitoring, etc.  We are looking for a “good athlete”, one that has solid GCP experience, but is first and foremost a software engineer who wants to learn and build cloud-based solutions.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • ]Partner with internal technical teams on future data strategy, roadmap, and delivery of cloud applications.
  • Add complex data sources to BigQuery, as needed by the business.
  • Work with 3rd-party partners to ensure their roadmap is aligned with business needs.
  • Lead cross-functional teams, including software development, IT Ops, and data analytics, to deliver on critical timelines.
  • Develop a detailed understanding of current BigQuery data warehouse and dbt models.

  • CHARACTERISTICS/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3+ years in technical cloud architecture, engineering, or data engineering rolesTechnical architecture or engineering experience in Cloud Platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure) with evidence of solving complex issues for demanding clients, GCP preferred.
  • Google Cloud Engineer 1 experience.
  • Experience running sprints and translating requirements into stories for engineering and analytics teammates.
  • Experience managing an enterprise data warehouse in BigQuery experience shipping difficult features or client projects.
  • Insatiable intellectual curiosity and an ability to self-manage
  • Proven problem-solving skills.
  • Possess an engineering mindset.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment. 
  • Able to prioritize work, effectively communicate risk, and able to meet deadlines.   
  • Experience in working effectively with consulting partners and other technical staff.
  • Willing to frequently contribute new ideas and challenge the status quo.
  • Proficiency with Python, Airflow, SQL (specifically BigQuery), Kubernetes, cloud monitoring, cloud storage, and most Google Cloud APIs.
  • Python and Django, a plus.
