Deft is seeking a Senior AWS Cloud Engineer to work as part of a team of cloud experts to develop solutions for AWS infrastructure operations, administration and monitoring. In this role, you will be responsible for configuring and managing AWS systems and solving unique technical challenges. 

Do:
  • Apply advanced troubleshooting techniques to provide unique solutions to our customers’ individual needs.  
  • Assist in initiatives relating to system operational enhancements, incident management, process improvement, reporting, and internal knowledge transfer 
  • Partner in technical mentorship efforts across the organization  
  • Support Change Control processes and Delivery Standardization.  
  • Collaborate with Sales Engineers and Business Consultants to build strong client relationships 
  • Leverage your extensive customer support experience to provide feedback to internal AWS teams on how to improve our services. 
  • Drive customer communication during critical events. 
  • Work on critical, highly complex customer problems that span multiple AWS Services.  

  • Deliver:
  • Drive a holistic approach to analyzing issues by ensuring all components (architecture, people, process, and technology) are identified and accounted for 
  • Support customers by providing technical expertise while communicating with a wide range of internal and client stakeholders  
  • Serve as technical point of escalation to the Support Engineering team; resolving client issues, working in collaboration with partners across the business, as required 
  • Build-out client's cloud environments and play a vital role in the implementation, deployment, and maintenance of production, staging, and development of AWS cloud infrastructures running in managed 24x7 environments 
  • Nurture cloud computing expertise internally and externally to drive our core DevOps and cloud philosophies  
  • Development of customer cloud strategies aligned with customer’s business objectives and with a focus on best practices aligned with our Managed Services offering

  • 5-10 years of hands-on AWS cloud engineering and administration experience  
  • Proficient in infrastructure-as-code languages such as CloudFormation or Terraform 
  • Experience working in a containerized environment  
  • Expert in AWS cloud services such as EC2, CloudFront, Lambda, IAM, S3, etc. 
  • Strong understanding of cloud and infrastructure components (server, storage, network, data, and applications) to deliver end-to-end cloud Infrastructure architectures and designs and recommendations 
  • Able to view challenges and projects from a ‘bigger-picture’ perspective.  
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • Able to estimate time and tasks necessary to complete a project  
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills 
  • Understands and can articulate technical ideas to non-technical people 
  • Customer support experience  
  • Intermediate experience in automation and scripting languages (Python, Ansible, PowerShell, etc.) 
  • Passionate about technology and a desire to continually expand technical knowledge 
  • Detail-oriented in documenting information and processes 
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and manage time in a fast-paced and diverse environment  
  • Demonstrate proven problem-solving skills and the willingness to take ownership of an issue 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical and technical audiences 
  • AWS Associate-level certification
