The Engineer II, DevOps position will join the Platform: Foundation team on the HQR contract. Hospital Quality Reporting (HQR) is a software system that Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) uses to measure the quality of care that hospitals are providing not only to Medicare recipients, but also to the general U.S. population. The HQR Foundation team supports all cross-functional development teams on the HQR contract by building out infrastructure, maintaining CI/CD pipelines, development environments, and other developer tools, as well as providing operational support.

Requirements
  • 3-5 years experience in a software development devops environment
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • ECS, Lambda, RDS
  • CloudWatch, IAM 
  • Infrastructure as Code
  • Terraform (using tf modules)
  • CDK experience a plus
  • CloudFormation is nice too
  • Scripting 
  • Bash/zsh preferred
  • experience using awscli
  • PowerShell or batch (PC)
  • Object oriented programming 
  • C#, Go, Python, or Java
  • Git/GitHub (and an understanding of git flow)

  • Responsibilities
  • Work as a part of an agile software development devops team to build and maintain critical infrastructure
  • Participate in planning and design discussions
  • Complete sprint work collaboratively and punctually
  • Support livesite issues as they arise
  • Identify problems, solve them with tested, industry standard best practice solutions, and work across teams to define and implement the future of HQR
  • Learn, grow, and achieve with an outstanding team

  • Experience with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes/ECS) and microservices architectures
  • IT operations understanding (Linux, networking, monitoring, security)
