Listing Description

Nextmv is a developer platform for automating and optimizing decisions that drive business operations — from vehicle routing to workforce scheduling and more. With Nextmv's flexible APIs, developers can quickly build, test, and deploy decision services in modern technology stacks at speed and scale. Nextmv’s customers include Gopuff, EatStreet, Hurry, and GoBolt Logistics. Nextmv is a globally distributed Series A startup backed by FirstMark Capital, Y Combinator, and leaders from Stripe, Twilio, GitHub, and Seamless. Follow Nextmv on Twitter (@getnextmv) or visit

Our team has employees across the U.S., Colombia, Germany, and the Netherlands. Unless otherwise stated in a job’s title, we are location agnostic and can hire in most places within the NAMER, LATAM, and EMEA regions. (Note that one of our perks is a 3K annual stipend to visit your coworkers around the world!)

The Cloud Engineer role reports to our VP of Engineering, Nicole Misek. The Nextmv cloud platform enables our customers to publish and run custom decision models such as routing, scheduling, and packing. The Nextmv Cloud platform microservices are built in Go using serverless technologies on AWS, with a front end based on React and TypeScript.

Our team places value on systems thinking and setting us up for scale, while also balancing near-term and long-term goals and solutions. We have foundations in place, but this role provides a great opportunity to develop and grow the groundwork at an early-stage startup.

In this role, you will:

Lead the design and implementation of critical areas of the cloud platformImplement robust, maintainable, and tested code that exemplifies best practices.

Mentor less-experienced engineers on the team.

Deliver customer value through features you own iteratively through sprint releases.

Create, maintain, and evolve software frameworks that improve productivity and consistency.

Contribute to improvements in our deployment automation and testing pipeline.

Diagnose and resolve operational issues.

The items below are a starting point for a conversation, not a hard list of requirements. If this role sounds exciting we encourage you to apply.

Ability to collaborate with other engineers to design and architect solutions.

Experience with building microservices for a cloud service offering (AWS preferred).

Experience with a modern full-stack language and framework (for example: Go, Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, Java, or C#).

Experience with automating and operating cloud services, including pipeline deployments, security, APIs, and more (CDK experience a plus).

Comfort with adapting to a shifting environment and changing priorities.

Excitement about working in a remote environment.

Provide a resume that highlights your relevant experience.

The compensation range for this role is $136-152K USD base pay for a senior title, though we will consider higher titles and pay depending on experience. Where you land within the base pay range is influenced by your experience, as well as your personal choice of equity/salary balance. Learn more about our compensation philosophy and benefits below.

We strive to create a place where anybody can grow. We’re guided by the following core beliefs that keep us honest on this journey.

A career in tech should be accessible to all. No matter where you are in your life or on the planet, we provide competitive base salaries, equity, and benefits that are inclusive of the best talent out there.

Salary transparency mitigates the wage gap. We’re building systems that level the playing field for everyone. Our salaries and levels are open to all Nextmvers to view and understand.

Every function and location provides equal value. The base salary for any two employees at the same level is the same — whether they’re in San Francisco or Philadelphia, finance or engineering.

You don’t have to give up your craft to make more money. Building a career at Nextmv should be straightforward. We give you the tools to own your growth — whether that’s on a path as an individual contributor or people manager.
