ABOUT THE ROLE
The Cloud Engineer role reports to our VP of Engineering, Nicole Misek. The Nextmv cloud platform enables our customers to publish and run custom decision models such as routing, scheduling, and packing. The Nextmv Cloud platform microservices are built in Go using serverless technologies on AWS, with a front end based on React and TypeScript.
Our team places value on systems thinking and setting us up for scale, while also balancing near-term and long-term goals and solutions. We have foundations in place, but this role provides a great opportunity to develop and grow the groundwork at an early-stage startup.
In this role, you will:
Lead the design and implementation of critical areas of the cloud platformImplement robust, maintainable, and tested code that exemplifies best practices.
Mentor less-experienced engineers on the team.
Deliver customer value through features you own iteratively through sprint releases.
Create, maintain, and evolve software frameworks that improve productivity and consistency.
Contribute to improvements in our deployment automation and testing pipeline.
Diagnose and resolve operational issues.

Ability to collaborate with other engineers to design and architect solutions.
Experience with building microservices for a cloud service offering (AWS preferred).
Experience with automating and operating cloud services, including pipeline deployments, security, APIs, and more (CDK experience a plus).

The compensation range for this role is $136-152K USD base pay for a senior title, though we will consider higher titles and pay depending on experience. Minimum Vacation Policy - Unlimited vacation can be vague and hard to track. We strongly encourage everyone to take at least 3 weeks/year (or whatever is in line with your country's standard) in addition to public holidays.
Holidays - We offer 20 company-wide days off to observe significant days around the globe, including at least one public holiday from each country where our current team resides. This includes closing the office for one full week in July as well as December. Team members can utilize our unlimited time off from there to observe additional local and personal holidays of their choice.
Retreats - We gather with the entire team 1-2x a year for in-person collaboration and team-building (in 2022 we went to Montreal, Canada!)
Travel Stipend - We offer up to 3K USD annually to visit your teammates and work from another city (or country!)
Remote Work Stipend - We send every new teammate a Mac laptop or equivalent of their choice, and provide a 1K USD stipend per year so you can feel ready to work remotely (this can mean office equipment, a coworking space, home wifi, etc.)
