The Director of Cloud Platform Engineering & SRE is responsible for leading and growing our Platform and Reliability Engineering teams.

What You'll Do:
  • Partner with Product Management and our Staff-level Engineer(s) to manage a 12 month roadmap focusing on the needs of the domain and larger organization.
  • Identify projects that serve multiple strategic goals and prioritize accordingly.
  • Ensure development of a strategy for how to use AWS according to best practices.
  • Communicate the strategy out to leadership and be able to relate them to company goals.
  • Participate in quarterly and annual planning processes to advocate for short-term projects that move us towards long-term goals
  • Capacity plan for growth, in traffic and other dimensions, and provide some predictions for maintaining level of service
  • Manage vendors and spend on cloud platforms such as AWS and Datadog
  • Collaborate with other leaders to define SLAs/SLOs/metrics, determine how to measure them, and determine whether we are meeting them
  • Manage the managers that report up through this division and help plan organizational growth for the future.
  • Proactively plan and advocate for team and organizational capacity, clarifying needs, requisitioning positions, and managing the hiring process to fill those positions.

  • Who You Are:
  • You have hands-on experience balanced with strategic planning and leadership experience.
  • Experience managing engineers and/or other managers
  • Roots roadmap decisions in business value and ROI, balancing short-term and long-term investment and results
  • Direct experience as a software developer, architect, DevOps engineer, or cloud practitioner, including AWS certification(s)
  • Building software and/or platforms where security, regulatory compliance and high availability are critical
  • Accountability for large-scale Software-as-a-Service products with significant customer bases and revenue
  • Experience working in an agile environment, with a focus on fast cycle times and continuous deployment.
