Senior Systems Engineer - Cloud / Vehicle Network Architecture

Motional is seeking a talented Senior Systems Engineer to join the System’s Network and Architecture team under the Product Systems group. 

The System’s Network and Architecture team is responsible for the specification and design of Motional's self driving vehicle physical architecture. A successful Systems Network Engineer will utilize their broad knowledge of networking,  hardware, electrical, software, and mechanical systems to derive system requirements and to work with other engineering stakeholders to ensure successful integration of the system. 

What You'll Be Doing

• Responsibility for technical Systems Level requirements


• Requirements analysis and management of network design


• Network architecture for self-driving systems and definition of requirements for vehicle data collection and analysis


• Definition of test cases for development testing, verification, and validation. 

What We're Looking For

• BS in Electrical / Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field


• Ability to work with cross-functional teams including component engineering, software, electrical, and mechanical engineering teams. 


• Experience working within a systems engineering or design release process.  Specific experience with automotive or aerospace industry processes is a plus. 


• Experience writing and controlling Requirements and ICDs using Polarian or a similar requirements management tool. 


• Knowledge of CAN and Ethernet communication networks including protocols, physical layer requirements, bandwidth characteristics, configuration, and automatic arbitration mechanisms.   


• In-depth knowledge of commercial and automotive system interfaces such as 10/100/Gigabit Ethernet, Automotive Ethernet, CAN / CAN-FD, LIN, and LVDS.


• Familiarity with network diagnostic tools such as CANalyzer and CANdb++ for CAN buses or Wireshark for IP networks.


• Knowledge of Cloud network and data platforms to have seamless interconnection between the vehicle network and the cloud network.

Bonus points

• Experience with AUTOSAR operating systems


• Experience with IEEE 802.1AS (gPTP)
