Listing Description

At Bluesight, our mission is to create groundbreaking medication intelligence solutions that increase efficiency, safety and visibility for health systems and pharmaceutical manufacturers.  We empower our customers to deliver the right medicine to the right patient at the right time, every time.  We are a high growth healthcare software technology company with a start-up 'vibe' but over 1000 customers tracking medications using our proven and established solutions.

Bluesight is looking for an experienced and talented DevOps Engineer to join our Platform, Data, and Security Engineering team to help us ensure that Bluesight is a secure, scalable, and compliant Medication Intelligence platform. By streamlining a hospital pharmacy's daily routines with our RFID scanners and inventory management solution (KitCheck), reducing risk and enhancing a hospital's compliance with our diversion platform (ControlCheck), providing in-depth cost analysis and savings of their drug spending (CostCheck), or automating tagging and registration of drugs at the point of manufacture (Registry), we're committed to improving the full lifecycle of medication management for our nation's healthcare providers.

The Opportunity
You'll help shape, build and grow the foundations of our platform. We're excited for the perspectives you bring and looking forward to your approach to our goals. You'll be responsible for contributing to, operating, and improving all aspects of our infrastructure and the developer experience with the infrastructure. You are able to maintain a holistic view of the development, testing, and production environments, while collaborating with all members of the technical team to support, maintain, and deploy the best products possible. The ideal candidate will be very experienced with Amazon Web Services, infrastructure-as-code tools like Cloudformation or Terraform, and a strong desire to foster and grow an empathic and cooperative engineering culture.

Behind the scenes, the team is working to improve the durability and efficiency of our products by improving the tooling, deployment, and shared computing layer for the company, while optimizing for cost, scale, and fault-tolerance on AWS. As Bluesight grows, these will be key initiatives enabling developers the ability to deliver operationally excellent and highly available products to our customers.

The team's scope of work includes tooling and systems for continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), access control, benchmarking, observability, incident response, database replication, cost engineering, and more.

In this role, you can expect to:
  • Support and improve the entire breadth of the software development lifecycle from engineering to QA, product owner to the customer, local test to production
  • Find, identify, and implement processes and automated systems to support and remove friction for our engineering teams
  • Participate in on-call rotations and assist on-call engineering teams with diagnostics and troubleshooting of platform and infrastructure
  • Have a strong empathic and cooperative approach to working with engineering teams, with a focus on building engineering team operational experience, self-service tooling, and making the default development experience high quality and accessible to all experience levels

  • About you:
  • 5+ years in DevOps, software engineering, or infrastructure engineering roles
  • Track record of building tools and automating processes with a customer-driven approach
  • Proven ability to design and develop appropriate scalable, efficient, and cost-conscious fault-tolerant systems
  • Ability to work through ambiguity with open asynchronous communication and autonomy
  • Desire to increase engineering velocity with training and education, building confidence and ability across the organization
  • Expertise with cloud platform and Infrastructure-as-code tools such as Cloudformation and Terraform
  • Proficiency in a programming language, Ruby on Rails strongly preferred

  • What we'd also love to see:
  • Deep experience with IAM and implementation of hybrid RBAC/ABAC policy environments
  • Experience with Docker and container orchestration frameworks such as ECS or Kubernetes
  • On-call experience, especially the implementation and improvement of the on-call process and in environments supporting other on-call teams
  • Database management expertise, especially the AWS flavors (RDS, Aurora)
  • Security and compliance control experience, especially with SOC2, HIPAA, or HiTRUST controls
  • Linux system administration expertise
  • Any code, writing, or projects that are public or shareable demonstrating experience or understanding of how operational excellence is key to delivering great products

  • What you'll get from us:
  • Opportunities to solve problems of scale, debt, and security to redefine what’s possible in medication intelligence
  • Challenging and difficult problems bridging our hardware and software platforms
  • A strong voice in what we work on, how it works, and how we build it
  • Our trust in your ownership of your work
  • Dedicated budget for training and career development
  • Coworkers who you'll learn from, who will push you, and who are looking to learn from you
  • The standard base pay range for this role is $135,000 - $160,000. In addition to a base salary this position is also eligible for an amazing benefits package. Actual amount of salary will vary depending on position offered, experience, performance, and location.
